  • Description:
    A startup biotech company (preclinical)  is seeking an experienced Lead Scientist-Technology Development Officer (LSTDO)  The LSTDO is responsible for leading the ongoing preclinical studies and moving onto translational studies that will have a real and positive impact on patients. The Company’s goal is to use cell therapies and related products to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from immune disorders.

    The basis of this biotech company’s mission is to treat mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) by “educating” them with environmental cues to improve their immunosuppressive capacities.
    The corporate office/laboratory is based in Manhattan. Travel (10%) both domestic and international, is an expected parameter of the job description.

    Among the responsibilities for this position are:
    ** Execute preclinical experiments at the NYC location.
    ** Be responsible for aiding with grant writing and pitching to audiences of both experienced scientists and investors.

    The position reports to the Chief Research Officer and Co-Founder, and pays a base salary that ranges from $80,000 - $100,000 (depending on experience). The position also includes equity (Employee Stock Option Plan- ESOP) in the company. Benefits are included.

  • Requirements:
    The ideal candidate for this position must have a Doctorate’s Degree, (PhD) and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience/exposure to biotechnology and therapeutic translation.
     
     Other relevant skills include:
    • Cell culture, flow cytometry.
    • Immune cell isolation and assays (e.g. leukopak processing, lymphocyte proliferation assays).
     
    The professional who fills this position will also be Independent-minded and well organized. He/she will be creative and driven to help lead medicine forward.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, as there will be direct interfacing with other scientific personnel as well as with financial and investor executives.
     
    The LSTDO will have demonstrated a past commitment to setting priorities, planning timelines, and executing on deliverables.
    He/she will also be able to travel 10% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
